There is information related to various folders in OLM and PST and it clears the air to understand the process for the conversion. The folders are protected during it.
The article has given the correct reasons to move from Outlook for Mac to Windows Outlook, but it will support Exchange accounts directly and without much preparation needed.
The Exchange Server worked well in Windows than macOS. So, it is better to convert your OLM files to Outlook supported PST file and use it in Windows. It will work better.
