Select Exchange data source

As you open Kernel for Exchange Server tool, it will ask you to mention the source whose mailbox you want to recover. There are 4 options provided which include

  • Offline EDB file: Offline Exchange database file containing user mailboxes.
  • Live Exchange (on-premises): Connect and recover EDB mailboxes from Live Exchange Server (2000, 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2019).
  • Outlook Profile: Recover data from Outlook profiles (Default POP3, IMAP, Domino, Groupwise, Gmail, Exchange, Office 365, etc.)
  • Office 365: Connect Exchange Server recovery tool to recover and restore data from Office 365 (Exchange Online).

If you select Offline EDB file as the source, provide the path to the file from your system’s local or network attached storage (NAS). If you are selecting other sources from the list, provide the credentials to connect with the mailbox and start Exchange mailbox recovery.

Now, as the selected source is successfully added in the tool, you can see all the users mailbox available at the source on the left pane of the window. Simply select the desired user mailbox and expand the structure using plus (+) icon to preview its folders (Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Calendars, etc.) and the email data.

  • Preview single mailbox items: Allows easy preview of mailbox folders in a tree-like structure and you can preview each email message side-by-side.
  • Preserve hierarchy: Helps to preserve the folder hierarchy of all the mailboxes in the destination just as it was in the selected source.
  • Export messages: Use Exchange recovery tool to export selected messages to different file formats, including PST, MSG, EML, PDF, etc. while keeping the hierarchy unchanged.

You will see some emails mentioned in red color. These are the emails that were deleted accidentally or intentionally from the mailboxes and are now recovered by the Exchange data recovery tool.
